Semi Independent living Packages

Semi Independent Living

Semi Independent Living (Base)

Our Base package is a cost effective option yet still ensures that the semi-independent living provision is staffed 24 hours per day. Our base package includes the following:

•             Support with food preparation 3x daily
•             Support with maintaining a clean and safe living environment
•             Daily Reflective Support on conduct and behaviour
•             Managing Incidents

We integrate a higher level of 1-1 support within the initial two weeks of placement in order to aid a client with the following:

Appointments
Support the client to register with the GP, dentist and also the Opticians; In addition to this the client will be supported to attend new patient check-ups.

Social integration/inclusion:
It is important that the client is aided to settle in to the local area as soon as possible in order to ensure there are no barrier to engagement. Community based 1-1 support will be provided to make the client aware of local transport links and other local facilities to include banks, libraries, jobcentre plus’ and other organisations/locations.

Social workers/ commissioners are able to purchase additional service user specific support tasks, for example: Support with substance misuse, support with food and grocery shopping, employability skills, training courses. New Provision

New Provision

Stepping Out have recently procured a ground floor two bedroom property within the Hertfordshire Borough (Broxbourne EN10) Located just 5 Minutes North of junction 25 of the M25 Motorway and East of the Great Cambridge Road A10, Being a short Walk from Broxbourne Train Station which links to Moorgate in London as well as connections to Underground stations for the Piccadilly and Victoria lines.

The provision is ideal for those whom have been diagnosed under the Autistic Spectrum Disorder, have Learning Disabilities and or Early On-Set Dementia. The provision can be staffed up to 24 hours per day on a 1-1 or 2:1 ratio.

 Early Onset Dementia Services
Stepping Out provide a specialist Dementia care and support service. We offer high levels of support and supervision via 24 hour staffed semi-independent living projects. We are able to offer personalised services to clients with early on-set dementia, in order to aid them regain lost skills and abilities with the main aim of promoting independence and dignity.

Visual tools such as picture cards (examples below) and other interactive communication aids are used in order to ensure effective communication, as we understand that those with Dementia often struggle to communication effectively. Additionally we recognize that challenging behaviour can also be a result of Dementia, thus, we ensure our staff are both experienced and trained in order to suitably manage such situations.

Additional support based on our travel training program can be put in to place in order to maintain and or seek to build on the clients independent travel skills.

3 Ways to Manage a Service User Displaying Challenging Behaviour.

One thing we have in excess here at Stepping Out is challenging behaviour. We pride ourselves on supporting such service users to become less challenging and more constructive via our semi independent living projects.  Based on years of experience, we’ve compiled a 5 point plan to combat challenging behaviour and promote productivity, and eventually independence.
